Meal Plan for a Fruitarian
Fruitarianism is the practice of eating raw ripe fruits, nuts and seeds including sprouted seeds and dried fruits. However extreme fruitarians eat only fruits which have fallen from the tree, thus are already 'dead' and this excludes a large number of foods making nutritional adequacy very unlikely. Extreme fruitarians believe fruits have feelings and therefore only eat what's fallen; many do not eat grains or seeds.
On The Meal Plan Site we only feel that it is possible to consume an adequate amount of all nutrients only if you consume a less extreme fruitarian diet, therefore the plan below is based on a wide selection of raw fruit, nuts and seeds in order to be nutritionally balanced. Warning: Even less extreme fruitarians are at risk of insufficient intakes of some nutrients. Use any fruitarian dietary regimen, including the one below, with caution and it is recommended that you have regular professional nutrient analysis on your diet (these are available online).
Examples of fruits which can be consumed include: Pineapple, mango, banana, avocado, apple, melon, orange, etc; all kinds of berries; vegetable fruits such as tomato, cucumber, olives; dried fruits such as raisins, sultanas, etc; nuts including hazelnuts, cashews, chestnuts, etc; and seeds including sprouted seeds.
For beverages other than water, all juices from the above fruits are encouraged in plentiful amounts. However some fruitarians do not even consume bottled water and obtain all fluid requirements from fruit juices.
Fruits should be eaten raw, simply because there would be some loss of precious nutrients through cooking. However extreme fruitarians claim heating food is unhealthy for the individual and pollutant to the environment, causing unbalanced nutrition, disease, mood swings, cravings for synthetic nutrients and chemicals, decrease of vitality, loss of external beauty and loss of inner happiness, amongst others.
This plan has been designed for a less extreme fruitarian and is nutritionally balanced for weight maintenance. Like all plans, it is merely an example and needs to be adapted to suit an individual's own lifestyle, daily routine and nutritional requirements. It is crucial that you do vary your choices of fruits, nuts and seeds each day for optimal nutrition.
